Principal FPGA Hardware Engineer

Job Summary:
Responsible for hardware design and development with little supervision. Expertise required in the following areas: VHDL design, Xilinx Vivado, architecture and design of digital hardware including embedded processors and high-speed memory systems.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Digital FPGA detailed logic design
• Synthesizable VHDL model design.
• Analyze systems for developing System Requirement Specifications
• Develop detailed designs and technical documentation
• Board-level high-speed digital design and schematic capture
• Digital system architecture development & partitioning
• Provide training and mentoring to junior level software engineers
• Provide project estimates and technical support for the Sales Process
• Contribute to software industry through publishing papers and presenting at seminars

Education and Prior Work Experience:
• BS/MS in Electrical Engineering (MS preferred)
• 10+ years' experience

Specialized Skills and Knowledge:
• Strong FPGA design experience (100K+ Gates)
• Proficient with Xilinx Vivado
• VHDL simulation (Modelsim)
• Expertise in digital systems ranging from portable wireless devices to Compact PCI systems.
• Experience designing with Bluetooth, USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and flash.
• Design for Testability and Manufacturing
• System and Timing Analysis
• Understanding high-speed PCB design and EMC compliance issues
• Altium Designer
• Excellent analytical and communication skills

Responsible for management of multiple client relationships and assuring the timely completion of client projects.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership to current clients/projects (60%)
• Continue to develop new/repeat business with existing clients (25%)
• Communicate and report client/project status (10%)
• Provide pre-sales support (5%)

Education and Prior Work Experience:
• 4 year + degree in a technical field
• 5+ years engineering services industry experience
• 3+ years project management of large projects/accounts
• 2+ years of electronic engineering experience

Position Requirements/Skills:

• Strong planning/organization skills

This position requires domestic travel approximately 5 % of the time.
