AlterEgo™ System
Vanteon's AlterEgo™ System provides an alternative booting mechanism for embedded systems similar in nature to the way a floppy disk works in a PC, allowing the device to perform in a different way. Following are some of the applications that are possible:
- Programming nonvolatile memories in embedded systems during low volume manufacturing runs.
- Provide a field firmware upgrade mechanism for systems that do not have standard external ports (e.g. serial, USB, Ethernet).
- Enabling secondary functionality such as diagnostics that may not fit in the main platform memory or be appropriate for general release.
The System is composed of common hardware in the form of the AlterEgo™ stick, the AlterEgo™ programmer and a PC-based application for programming the stick. Vanteon also provides firmware and programmer configuration files that are customized for your product.
